Oh baby I hope you’re ready.
For the last year or so there’s been a ton of rumors flying around that Capcom has secretly been working on a new entry in the Devil May Cry franchise that is a direct sequel to DMC 4, rather than a continuation of DmC: Devil May Cry. The hype has been steadily rising among fans since a supposed massive leak on ResetEra that detailed much of the game and how we can expect it at this year’s E3 Sony showcase. Well, we might have even more reason to believe that we’ll be seeing it there with a pre-order listing for Devil May Cry 5 on Xbox One and PS4 on Austrian gaming outlet Gameware. The listing is even still up amazingly, you can order it right now I guess (if you want the Austrian version, at least). It also lists the release date as this year, which is pretty exciting (and lines up with the previous rumors and leaks), although there’s no other information listed (cover, story details, etc). But hey, I’ll take it!
This is all very exciting for fans, who haven’t returned to the world of the original DMC canon since 2008’s Devil May Cry 4, which was… ten years ago, how about that? Perfect timing then. We’ll keep you updated, but in the meantime, keep your eyes on Sony’s press event during E3, which is scheduled for Monday, June 11th, at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET.
