The long awaited patch for Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut on PC is finally here. Released nearly a month after the game’s Steam release, patch V1.01 adds full controller support to the game, improves the game’s performance, addresses achievement issues, fixes some scenarios that are too difficult in this version due to faults, and addresses bugs and crashes.
It’s worth noting that the resolution cap has not officially been addressed by this patch. For those looking to improve the visuals of the game, whether it be a resolution above 720p or further improvements such as anti-aliasing, look to Durante’s DPfix patch. As the official patch has just released, I’d give Durante some time to see whether or not his patch works alongside this one. Perhaps he will even update it so the two work in tandem, giving us players the best version of Deadly Premonition out there.
It’s a bit disappointing that the game released in such a poor state, but at least we have something. I’m very happy about the added controller support as it will make things much more comfortable for me. Less crashes would great as well – hopefully all of those are gone.
