Paranoid Productions, a new studio headed by Richard Rouse III (creator of The Suffering), has announced The Church in the Darkness – a stealth infiltration game set inside of a cult compound deep in a South American forest.
The Church in the Darkness takes place in the 1970s and follows Isaac and Rebecca Walker, the two leaders of the Collective Justice Mission. After moving to South America to avoid persecution from the US government, the two create a compound called Freedom Town. Players take the role of Vic, an ex-cop who’s connected to the compound through his nephew. Players must infiltrate the town, incapacitating or killing its guards in order to move through the area unannounced.
Ellen McLain (voice of GLaDOS) and John Patrick Lowrie (Sniper in Team Fortress 2) play the two charismatic cult leaders whose voices can be heard over loudspeakers in the town, where they’ll preach their (ostensibly) twisted beliefs. The Church in the Darkness is said to have dynamic scenarios and story elements, with a varied cast of characters.
The game is due on PC/Mac first, with a later release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
