The end begins, and it ends at the beginning.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter‘s trailer has finally dropped after weeks of Mila Jovovich’s teasing, and we’ve got our first look at the fun times Alice is going to be going through this time around. Raccoon City, the bombed-out crater from the games (and first two films) returns, in surprisingly better condition than I would have expected. Apparently, the secret to ending the zombie apocalypse lies inside of the Hive facility from the very first film, and Alice must fight through the city and delve into the darkness to discover it.
Chris, Leon, Ada, and Jill all seem to be MIA this time around, despite being very much alive at the end of the previous film, but Dr. Isaacs and the Red Queen do despite being very much dead the last time we saw them. Mila Jovovich has been talking up how this film will finally be answering questions about Alice’s past, and the world of the RE movies in general. Other than story stuff, we also get some first looks at the film’s new monsters, which seem to be inspired by Kipepo from Resident Evil 5, and Bloodshots from Resident Evil 6. We also see Alice using RE5 and 6‘s Hydra shotgun, and get a look at Claire’s new Revelations 2 inspired look. There’s some Wesker, and some laser hall stuff, with the lasers cutting through layers of grime and dust caked on after being left underground for however long it has been. Fun times. You can check out the full trailer below, as well as an international trailer that actually has the game’s classic voice announcer, which is cute. The film releases January 27th 2017, just a few days after Resident Evil VII: Biohazard hits.
