I perfectly remember my mindset when I was playing Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, the first game in the series to hit the 3DS. I was anxiously awaiting the release of Revelations at the time, as I’m sure most Resident Evil fans were. I would salivate over every new image and video release from the game, it was like the excitement waiting for Resident Evil 4. Ah, good times.
I always loved the Mercs mode in the series, so buying this was already a no-brainer (despite being disappointed about no classic maps being included), but the icing on the cake was that Revelations demo. Needless to say, I beat the holy hell out of said demo. And Mercs 3D, as a standalone game, was also extremely fun. Playing online was also a very enjoyable experience that offered hours of enjoyment.
Now we fast-forward, and the game is getting ready to hit the 3DS eShop. It’ll be coming to the service tomorrow, March 7, for the price of $19.99. While Revelations is still the better game, one of the best in the series if you ask me, Mercs 3D was still a very addicting game that I kept coming back to over and over again.
Oh, and Barry headbutting enemies.
