For years now, Nintendo and Capcom have had quite a strong relationship, especially when it comes to Resident Evil. Yeah, I know, Resident Evil 6 hasn’t been announced for Wii U (yet…), but the series has seen a good amount of exclusive releases on Nintendo consoles. With some amazing entries in the series amongst them like the REmake and more recently with Revelations.
What’s interesting is that Nintendo got a traditional Resident Evil experience with the 3DS exclusive Revelations, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (and eventually the PC) got Resident Evil 6, which added even more action to the series, despite Leon’s scenario being the most traditional out of the game’s four. And overall, Revelations has seen much better reviews than Resident Evil 6. So, what will the future bring for the series on Nintendo platforms?
Resident Evil Revelations’ director, Koshi Nakanishi, recently spoke with the Official Nintendo Magazine, expressing great interest in working on a new entry in the series for the Wii U. He states how the Wii U and its controller allow for experiences that weren’t possible before. He goes on to state that if he were to work on a game for the platform, he would definitely make good use of all of the game pad’s features. Which then takes us to Resident Evil. Having already worked on the 3DS directing Revelations, he feels the Wii U would allow for a very fun and unique Resident Evil experience not possible on Nintendo’s handheld. A Wii U Resident Evil game in the style of Revelations? Yes, please!
