Resident Evil Revelations’ cruise ship gets an official site

Inserted Evil, if you were to ask me, is a marketing success. Yeah, I know we can’t really say that at this point since Operation Raccoon City is a few months away from hitting store shelves, and also because ideally the only people participating in this viral campaign are Resident Evil enthusiasts. The reason why I think it’s a marketing success, though, is because of just that: fan participation.

Many times publishers and film studios take it to ARGs and other similar viral marketing campaigns to get people excited and talking about an upcoming project. Capcom did just that with Inserted Evil. But, with one last clue remaining before the viral comes to an end, we’re moving on to what may be a second ARG, this time for February’s Resident Evil Revelations.

Remember back at NY Comic-Con I shared a picture of one of the promotional posters Capcom was giving out for Revelations? The poster added a layer of realism to the game, specifically one of its main settings: the luxury cruise ship. The Queen Zenobia is the name of said ship, as well as the name of the cruise line it operates under. And guess what? Not only does it have an official Facebook page, but now it also has a full-blown site.

If you head on over the official site you’ll be met with many things to dive into (get it?). You can read more about the cruise line and the destinations and promotions it offers. You can also see some pics of some very happy (not really) people who have booked their trip with Queen Zenobia. Speaking of people, you can also read reviews of the cruise line, as well as press releases with some rather interesting tidbits. Let’s just say you’ll be able to learn a bit more about the attack on Terragrigia that we got a peek at with the game’s latest Gamers Day trailer, just take this following note for example, that appears when you try to book a trip to this particular city:

Queen Zenobia can no longer offer cruises to this destination due to the recent tragedy on the island of Terragrigia.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Yeah, quite a big inconvenience. There’s also a number which you can call (which actually works) which actually gives you an automatic message, letting you know that there’s noone available to take your call. Yeah, nothing big, but it’s pretty neat how much work they put into trying to make this as authentic as possible.

Lastly, stay tuned for a big sweepstakes Capcom will be having on the site, where participants will get a chance to win “the ultimate gamers cruise plus a boatload of other exclusive prizes. Definitely seems like we got another Inserted Evil coming up.
