For your convenience, and instead of having to go through the first half of Nintendo’s 3DS gameplay montage, here’s the small bit that was focused on Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D.
One again don’t forget to subscribe to our channel, now on to a little mini-analysis.
First off, it’s worth noting, that there’s either going to be a main arc that encompasses dual-playthroughs or perhaps players will be able to choose which character to play as, akin to Resident Evil 1 and 2. Of course, this will mean that you’ll cross paths with the other character, and at times even play alongside them as we’ve seen in screenshots. With that being said, on to the analysis.
In this uber-short clip, the Revelations centric portion, we see Jill going through the complex, a location very similar to the corridors you pass through right before you fight Excella in Resident Evil 5. The enemies seen in the trailer don’t come in huge numbers as we’ve been used to since Resident Evil 4. Instead we get a new form of Bio-Weapon. A monstrosity that’s no larger than a normal zombie, but presents quite a threat, what with him having a mace-like fist the likes of Code Veronica’s Tyrant. They also seem to channel a movement similar to Resident Evil 4’s regenerators. While slow-moving, they do pack quite a punch…literally. We see this new BOW kill a scientist (?) right in front of Jill, albeit through glass. Perhaps experiments are still being conducted while Chris and Jill invade the premises.
Lastly we see Jill enter a room to do battle with the new foe. The camera perspective switches to first-person, sending memories of the light-gun Resident Evils into players minds. Perhaps, like Deadly Silence, some rooms you enter will automatically switch to a first person orientation, prompting more precise aiming to take down enemies.
Even though the clip is short, we know now a couple of things. Chris,Jill, and Hunk aren’t entirely alone in this ship. We also know that players might be able to choose which scenario to play through just like the original game in which these two characters starred in. Also, it’s worth noting how this new enemy sends fear through players much more than any horde we’ve faced in Resident Evil 5, or 4 for that matter. Welcome back, survival-horror Resident Evil. More info on the game is it comes.
