Famitsu has recently sat down with Resident Evil Revelations 2 producer Machisaka Kawata and director Yasuhiro Anba to talk about the upcoming sequel. We now have a little more insight into what’s been shown thus far (check out our article where we dissect the game’s trailer by clicking here).

First we learn more about the bracelets we see the people wearing in the game’s live action concept trailer, which seemingly glow green when their health is stable and red when infected. Kawata called it the game’s “most important key item,” saying that “it will also become a key part of the game’s story.” The game’s director then stressed how he was a little hesitant at first about including this in the trailer, since he initially considered it a spoiler, but he decided to show it off after all.

Next we move on to the little girl that’s the focal point of the trailer, who we see running through the crowd of people before everything goes to zombie hell. At the end of the trailer we see her pointing at something off-screen while standing in front of a zombie. When questioned about her and this particular shot, and after saying that it’s difficult to talk about at this time, Kawata stated: “Personally speaking, that’s an image that I really like, and I’ll leave it at that for now.” He also goes on to confirm that the trailer does in fact contain hints at what the game’s plot will be, which continues to make Claire’s inclusion a huge possibility (especially with the TerraSave shirt on one of the guys).

The interview ends with talk of the game’s setting, which was shown off in two pieces of concept art yesterday.  When asked about it, the game’s director states:

“The first Resident Evil takes place in a mansion, and with Revelations taking place on a cruise liner, so you have many stages that were set in closed locations, but Revelations 2 will take place on a lonely island located somewhere in the distant sea. We’d like to make it into something we can call ‘Resident Evil Island’.”

Kawata adds: “The place is much wider than the cruise liner, so there’s plenty more we can set up than what we had in the previous game.” The producer also confirms that the setting isn’t exactly a prison island entirely, and that it will have other facilities as well.
