Resident Evil 6 expected to be the biggest title in the franchise’s history

Capcom isn’t messing around with Resident Evil 6. They have a team of more than 600 people working on the title, and Capcom is also expecting sales to be pretty huge. And already, pre-orders for the game have exceeded that of previous entries, so the publisher’s definitely on the right track towards meeting their goal.

Speaking with Game Informer in an interview, Capcom’s SVP of planning and business development Christian Svensson spoke over the matter, stating that  “The pre-orders for Resident Evil 6 are off to a fantastic start. The best start a Resident Evil game has ever had.”

Hell, even announcing that game before the release of the series’ other big 2012 releases, Resident Evil Revelations and Operation Raccoon City, helped boost both titles’ pre-order numbers– as opposed to the belief some had that people would extract their attention from said games.

But what of RE 6’s November 20th release date? I mean, November is usually always quite a busy month for big triple-A releases– and as we all know, November will also see the release of another Call of Duty title, so there’s some big competition. What does Capcom have to say about this? Svensson states:

We’re saying, “Get the hell out of the way.” We’re a big game. We’re letting you know we’re coming. We’re giving people plenty of room to move around us. The other part is the nuts and bolts of it. If we put our stake in the ground, we can start lining up retail channel promotions, etc.

Look out, Activision! November should make GameStop quite a battlefield, with Resident Evil fans and COD fans going at it. Stay tuned for more information from Game Informer’s interview.
