The Capcom Unity blog has just announced today that Resident Evil 5, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record will be ditching Games For Windows Live in favor of Steamworks. Expected to transition over to Steam early next year, the three games have been limited to Microsoft’s deceased PC platform, GFWL, which is a service that many PC gamers really oppose due to technical issues and a lack of Steam integration.
There aren’t any details other than the timeframe, but hopefully Capcom will confirm Steam achievements, Steam cards/badges, and the works for those that enjoy those sort of things. Here’s hoping we’ll be able to hold onto our saves, too!
