Oops, sorry: There’s no Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City beta or demo planned

Well, would you look at that. One of the things I love about being Editor-in-Chief of a smaller, more focused, site as opposed to the big heavy-hitters like IGN and Gamespot, is that we’re able to offer more specific and deeper coverage of your favorite survival horror titles, especially when it comes to Resident Evil and Silent Hill. (I hope I don’t get any angry letters from anyone after saying that.) So, sometimes the bigger sites are bound to be a tad bit misinformed when it comes to our highly anticipated horror titles. The particular game in question in this case is Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Remember that story we posted about a beta coming early next year? Yeah, well, you can program your mind to completely discard that now. Unfortunately, there will be no public beta or even a demo for March 20’s Operation Raccoon City, as confirmed via Capcom-Unity in which they also confirmed that a site was “misreporting what was said during an interview.” Hey, I wonder what site that could be (it’s certainly not us). But not everything is all sadness and despair: Capcom also confirmed that “first to play” community events are planned for the game, pre-release. So, either way, if you’re lucky enough to have the resources needed to make the voyage to wherever said events will be held, fans will ultimately be able to enjoy the game before it launches.

There goes my theory about a beta being rewarded to Inserted Evil participants
