Milla Jovovich sure loves to tweet. The star of all the Resident Evil film adaptations to date is quite enthusiastic when it comes to sharing new bits of information with fans about what she’s currently up to– in this case, she’s getting prepped to commence shooting the fifth entry in Resident Evil’s film series, Retribution. She’ll be back in the role of Alice, of course, but we’re also going to get some new faces (as far as the films go): Barry, Ada and Leon. But we already know that. Let’s get on to the juicy part of this post.
Milla has revealed that Las Plagas will be featured in the upcoming film. As you know, especially if you frequent us a lot, Las Plagas made its debut in Resident Evil 4. It was a parasitic threat that Leon was confronted with, because, you know, the T/G-Virus just wasn’t enough for him. Basically, this particular parasite makes one go a little crazy, but doesn’t exactly turn one into a “zombie.” It also has even further effects, though, as we saw in the enemies in the game whose heads would explode to reveal a tentacled mess, amongst the other, more larger threats.
So, how exactly will Paul W. Anderson handle this parasite? Hopefully, with Leon and Ada being part of the film’s cast, things will play out closely to the events of Resident Evil 4, as far as both those characters go and Las Plagas. But, there’s already confirmation of scenes set in Russia and Tokyo, so Anderson obviously isn’t going to be adapting Resident Evil 4 in its entirety.
