Resident Evil fans know that this month marks the 15th anniversary of the franchise, March 22nd to be exact. While Capcom may not be releasing a game on the exact date of the milestone, we are still getting one later on this summer for the 3DS. That game is Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and while we already know a good deal of information about the extra-mode turned stand-along package, we now have another bit of very exciting news.
Mercenaries 3D will feature 30 stages to test your skills at surviving, these stages will consist of famous locales throughout the entire franchise. Up to this point we had only seen a couple of levels respresenting Resident Evil 4 and 5, but to know that all the classic games will be represented as well is very promising. Apart from this, we also can expect more characters than what has been revealed thus far.
While it would’ve been awesome to get some sort of Resident Evil compilation release in time for the franchise’s 15th anniversary this month, Mercenaries 3D is more than a suitable substitution. The 3DS title will definitelly serve to be not only a showcase for what the handheld can do, but also a tribute to 15 memorable years of Resident Evil. Join us in our celebration by tuning into our ongoing “Countdown to Resident Evil’s 15th anniversary“.
