Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Re:Verse will shut down this year, with removal from digital stores on March 4 and all services ending June 30th.
This marks the end of Resident Evil Re:Verse, which was originally released as a multiplayer companion to Resident Evil Village on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It was included in a bundle with the main game.
Despite a lukewarm reception at launch, the game has managed to last for a surprisingly long time compared to other similar projects from Capcom. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil series as a whole continues to be hugely successful, as reflected in Capcom’s recent sales data.
In an official message, Capcom thanked players, saying:
This is to inform you that service will be ending for Resident Evil Re:Verse, which comes packaged with a purchase of Resident Evil Village for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Steam. The application and all of its related downloadable content will no longer be available for download or purchase.
The game was originally created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil. Capcom acknowledged the support from players and stated that the game fulfilled its intended purpose.
Capcom has also confirmed that any purchased items, such as RP Boosters, can still be used until the service officially shuts down on June 30th.
