San Diego Comic-Con 2011 kicks off next week and aside from the usual horde of comic book and movie news that comes from this venue, there’s going to be quite a strong video game presence as well, especially from Capcom. The house of Mega Man and Resident Evil is set to announce a brand new game on Friday the 22nd at their ‘World of Capcom’ panel, according to a full breakdown of all the convention’s planned panels. There’s also a separate panel, on the same day, dedicated to Resident Evil and its 15th anniversary which will give us updated looks at both Resident Evil 4 HD and Code Veronica X HD as well as some ‘surprises’.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up for Capcom’s brand new game announcement since I strongly believe it won’t be Resident Evil related, but I am quite interested in what surprises Capcom may have in story for Resident Evil fans in their ‘Resident Evil Round-up’ panel. Since this is one of the year’s biggest venues in which many films get shown off to the masses, especially those based on comic book and video game properties, I’m willing to bet that we’re going to get some new information on Paul W. Anderson’s next Resident Evil flick, Retribution, as well as some news and perhaps a new trailer for the CGI film, Damnation (remember this?). Well, we won’t have to wait too long to find out as the convention kicks off next week.
