Resident Evil 5 still selling copies by the way. STILL!

The title of this post might stir up a little deja vu.  Back in February, we brought you news that despite being five years old, Resident Evil 5 is still selling units.  Even back in February, Resident Evil 5 had already surpassed the sales of every other Capcom title to date, including the coveted Resident Evil 4 and Street Fighter 2.

Don’t think that it’s just a few copies here and there, either. In October of last year, Capcom reported that RE5 had sold 6.6 million copies.  Since then, the number has gone up to 6.7 million.

As for Resident Evil 6?  It’s sitting nicely at 5.9 million units, up from 5.8 at last check.

God damn!

That might not seem like a lot, but it’s certainly nothing to scoff at.  Let me remind you again, it’s Resident Evil 5 – a game that was panned by a lot of series fans for being too action-oriented, and having far too much reliance on co-op.  There are people out there who still hate on Sheva for something that I have honestly never experienced in the 99 or so hours I put into that game.

Other important titles that are still getting some love?

  • Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is up from 2.3 million to 2.4 million
  • Resident Evil: Revelations 1.2 million across all consoles
  • Dead Rising 2 is up from 2.8 million to 2.9 million
  • DmC Devil May Cry is up from 1.5 million to 1.6 million

According to Siliconera, 50% of these figures come from downloads, the rest are from retail.

Sooo Capcom!  When’s that Resident Evil 5 remake coming?
