A recent leak reveals that Capcom is likely working on a remake of Resident Evil 5, the fifth main installment in the iconic series. This discovery comes from a recent listing by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), which showed a new rating for Resident Evil 5 on Xbox Series X|S. This has led to rumors suggesting a possible remake, especially since it aligns with Capcom’s past efforts to revisit older titles with updated visuals and gameplay.
There is also the possibility that Resident Evil 5 might simply get a remaster for current-generation consoles. Originally released in 2009 on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, the game received an HD remaster in 2016, which included all additional content, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In 2019, it was also released on Nintendo Switch, so it’s not entirely ruled out that Capcom could offer a similar version for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Additionally, last month, a similar listing for Resident Evil 6 was spotted, which might indicate that both of the more controversial entries in the series could be bundled in a new package. For now, we’ll have to wait for more information from Capcom.
In related news, Capcom may be working on a remake of Resident Evil Zero and a movie adaptation of the title, according to rumors shared by the insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem.
