Finally, some more information.
As most of you probably already know, Capcom is re-releasing the Resident Evil sequel trilogy on Xbox One and PS4 this year as part of a celebration of RE‘s 20th anniversary. We already got the first part of this with Resident Evil 6‘s remaster earlier in the year, and while I was generally underwhelmed by the “remastering” (it looked more or less exactly the same as it always had, save for 60fps and some sharper textures on the player character models), I’ve been looking forward to information on when we could expect Resident Evil 5 to drop. Well, we’ve finally got some thanks to Twitter gaming insider Wario64. Not just the release date, which is June 28th, but also the full achievements/trophy list!

Unlike a lot of RE fans, I don’t hate Resident Evil 5. It’s a well made, fun, and exciting action game, and I appreciate a lot of things that it did. The visuals still hold up for the most part even on the original 2009 release, and I’m super excited to see what (if any) changes will have been made for this re-release. As I said before, I was let down by RE6HD‘s little to no enhancements, but that may not hold true for this release, and I’m hoping not for this fall’s re-release of Resident Evil 4 as well. I am a little disappointed to see that, yet again, the trophies/achievements are identical to its original release, which isn’t so much of a problem for RE5, but leaves me a little anxious for RE4‘s release. The HD version of Resident Evil 4 on PS3/XB360 and even the Ultimate HD Edition on Steam only had twelve of them, and they were mostly for completing the game and getting all the costumes/bottlecaps. I’m a nut for RE4, and a bit of an achievement whore, and it sucks having almost nothing to show for one of my favorite games. Hopefully, this will change.
Resident Evil 5 HD will release both digitally and physically for 20$USD on June 28th, and will contain all of its pre-release content like Mercenaries Reunion, Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape. We’ll be reviewing it as soon as we get our hands on it!
