Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode Releases Next Week

Resident Evil 4 Remake VR mode

Resident Evil VR fans can finally rejoice! After being teased in May, Capcom has announced the release date for a VR mode for the Resident Evil 4 remake. This mode will arrive as a free update for the PS5 version of the game.

This mode will be available on December 8th, and is currently only being released for the PS5 version of the game, compatible with the PSVR2 headset. There are currently no further announcements for the PC version or any of the standalone VR headset platforms at this time.

For those who may have doubts about it’s exclusivity, there’s a good chance this may be a true exclusive for the PSVR2, since Resident Evil 7 is still only officially available in VR on the original PSVR to this day and Resident Evil Village is also still exclusive to the PSVR2 several years after its launch.

Along with the announcement of the date, they’ve also released a launch trailer to go along with it, which shows off a few new features of the VR mode that we didn’t get in the original game, including dual-wielding weapons and even some Ashley gameplay, using the lantern as your VR weapon of choice. There’s even a tease for the shooting gallery minigame being playable in VR, which should add a new level of fun to these segments for fans of the shooting gallery.

There hasn’t been any clarification on whether or not the Mercenaries mode will be playable in VR as of yet, so we’ll still have to wait and see if this becomes a reality when this update goes live next week.

Check out the new launch trailer below while you prepare your headsets for next week when you get to experience horror from a new perspective.

Stay tuned here for more updates about this mode when it launches next week.
