The fan-made Resident Evil 4 HD Project, a remaster PC mod that goes well beyond what Capcom did for the game’s Ultimate Edition, has reached a new milestone. On July 13th, the third release of the mod will be available for download, offering sweeping yet faithful changes to the game’s visuals to make it look better than ever. Like, really, really good, guys.
The next update will bring improvements to Resident Evil 4 environments, starting from the village and ending at the industrial island. All textures have been recreated by hand at 16x the original resolution. But that’s not all; the team behind the mod also made updates and fixes to 3D models, adding detail and depth where it never existed. Lighting and shadow effects have been improved, and in some places, made apparent for the very first time. General color correction to match the game’s original Gamecube release were also made. The entirety of Separate Ways and Assignment Ada have also received updates.
