Resident Evil 2 Remake Sells 15 Million Copies

Capcom has updated its list of “Platinum Titles”, which includes all the company’s games that have sold over one million copies worldwide. The latest update, from December 31st, 2024, shows the big success of the Resident Evil remake series, which has sold around 34 million copies in just six years since the first game in the series was released.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake, released in January 2019 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, has sold 15 million copies since its launch. It is the biggest success in the series and the third best-selling game in Capcom’s history, after Monster Hunter World (over 20 million copies sold) and Monster Hunter Rise (16.7 million). The Resident Evil 3 Remake, released the next year in April on the same platforms, is seventh on the list with 9.6 million copies sold.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake has been the most successful, selling 9.2 million copies in less than two years. In the same time, Resident Evil 2 Remake sold about 8 million copies, and Resident Evil 3 Remake sold just under 6 million. Together, the three remakes (soon to be four with the expected release of the Resident Evil 5 Remake ) have sold 33.8 million copies worldwide.
