What a whirlwind it’s been for the last few days. Thanks to a very, very credible leak, Resident Evil 3 is all but literally confirmed by Capcom at this point. From deep discussion on the new look for Nemesis (and to a lesser extent, Jill and Carlos) to hopes and dreams being pondered, everyone is pretty damn hype. That said, we don’t have any way of knowing when exactly that announcement is coming. Fans had speculated that TGA would be where the announcement would be taking place, but it looks like that won’t be the case. Right now (as of the time of this writing) Geoff Keighly (host and planner of The Game Awards) is holding an AMA on Reddit and was asked directly about REmake 3 appearing at the show. He responded:
There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show. A lot of these “leaks” are completely wrong. Nothing about our show has leaked as of this writing.
So that’s that for that particular speculation. However, REmake 3 is more than likely being announced soon regardless of the planning for that particular show. Daniel Ahmad, well known (and highly accurate) industry leaker had this to say immediately following REmake 3‘s leak:
What if the game was revealed before TGA at a different event?
Nah… I’m just kidding.
Unless… ??? https://t.co/9352ivzs8a

It’s worth mentioning that Capcom-Unity will be issuing a major update to RE.net on December 11th (the day before TGA). The update is so major in fact it will apparently be changing how logging on works, so they’ve issued a guide on how to keep up with the update. It very well could have nothing to do with any of this, but the timing is highly suspect. There’s still the strange updating and temp achievement going on with REmake 2, which still doesn’t have an explanation from Capcom (REmake 2 was quietly updated again yesterday, by the way). All signs point to DLC, which fans are starting to become more and more convinced will be a prequel to REmake 3 that acts as demo (ostensibly). There’s no way of confirming that particular speculation though, so don’t get your hopes up for that being whatever is up with REmake 2. On top of all of this, there’s also the mystery game (or two) that’s being shown off at Jump Festa just after TGA. The leak seems to point to those two games being the (now fully titled) Resident Evil: REsistance and of course REmake 3 itself.
Again, the source for the leak is PlayStation Network itself, so REmake 3 is 100% happening unless some very talented artist hacked into it for fun, so it’s only a matter of time before we see our first official look at it.
