Phasmophobia Surpasses 3 Million in Console Sales

Phasmophobia

The success of Phasmophobia is showing no signs of slowing down, it seems. Becoming one of the fastest growing indie horror games on PC – partly thanks to increased interest during the COVID-19 lockdowns – the figures for Kinetic Games’ ghost hunting sensation just keep going up.

Since the developer released Phasmophobia on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in October 2024, the game’s popularity has only gone up, as a recent post from Kinetic says it’s surpassed three million in sales on console alone. This figure also includes the PS VR2 port, as well. The post on X goes on to thank the community for its continued support, and work continues to keep the game in good shape.

So how many copies is that overall? Well, according to a report from Gematsu, Phasmo was fast-approaching 22 million in sales across all platforms as of December 2024. To put that into perspective, Skyrim has sold over 60 million copies since releasing in 2011, so that’s pretty good going for a small independent studio.

As for what’s in store: we know the developer is working on a lot of new changes. We’ve already had the recent changes to the Bleasdale Farmhouse location, and a roadmap outlined on Steam shows there’s even more to come. We know there’s going to be a revamp of Grafton Farmhouse, as well as a new small map and some major updates, including changes to the characters.

It’s all go at Kinetic Games, then. Phasmophobia may have had a lot of tweaks and adjustments over the past four and a half years, but it’s still the same ghost hunting experience with the same janky animations. I, for one, support the jank. Here’s to millions more copies being sold.
