Phasmophobia, the popular multiplayer horror game, is set to arrive on consoles, as well as the PSVR 2 headset, later this year. Despite several delays, developer Kinetic Games has confirmed it will finally launch during the in-game Halloween Event. This news has been eagerly anticipated by console players who have been waiting for over a year.
The studio announced Phasmophobia‘s console release in a community update on Steam. The developer also shared its frustration over the delays, but promised that the game would be ready in time for the spooky season. However, no specific date has been given yet, but the release is expected in October.
One feature that will be missing at launch is voice recognition, which enhances immersion in the PC version. Instead, console players will need to use text input for voice commands. Kinetic is working on a solution and will update fans if anything changes.
However, the PlayStation and Xbox versions will support cross-play, allowing people to team up with friends across different platforms, including VR. Future updates will also arrive simultaneously on all systems, ensuring console users are not left behind.
If you haven’t played it, Phasmophobia involves teams hunting ghosts in spooky locations, using environmental clues and spectral behavior to identify the type of spirit. The game was a huge hit during its early access phase on PC, and console players will soon join the ghost-hunting fun.
According to the Steam post, it will be priced at $19.99 USD on console when it releases, reflecting the added content since early access began. Sadly, there are no plans to release it on Xbox Game Pass, and it’s not clear whether the Nintendo Switch will be getting a port.
