For fans of the Killing Floor series who have been wondering what’s next for the franchise, we just may have an answer for that question, right from the source.
In the PC Gaming Show 2020 interview with the president of Tripwire Interactive, John Gibson, multiple subjects were brought up about where the company is right now, and where they’re headed in the future. After mentioning the successful launch and high community praise for the recently released Maneater (it really is amazing,) they also talked about their upcoming ultra-violent medieval multiplayer hack-and-slash, Chivalry 2. This game was an absolute blast when I got to play it at a preview event with Tripwire earlier this year, and John mentioned it will be released in the “not-too-distant future.”
Afterward, the next natural direction for the conversation was to probe about what’s next for the studio besides Chivalry 2, and this is where things got interesting. Not only did John mention they were looking to continue adding content to Maneater in the future, but he also said they’re looking at the next step in the Killing Floor franchise, noting that Killing Floor 2 was released all the way back in 2015, and hinting that Killing Floor 3 or another spinoff may be in the planning stages as we speak, as he said to “stay tuned” for what that next step will be fairly soon.
Stick around for updates as time goes on, but I’m chomping at the bit to see what kind of content they can add to the Maneater world, and I am very excited that we may be playing a new Killing Floor game sooner than later.
