It’s been a long time since the last Parasite Eve game. Parasite Eve 2 was released back in 2000 on the PSOne. The Third Birthday, slated for release in 2011 for the PSP has been said only to be related to the original games in spirit. Despite that fact, some of us might want to revisit the previous games in the series without having to break out the old console (or the old game for that matter). Well we’ll soon have a solution to that.
Earlier today, Third Birthday director Hajime Tabata [posted on the Third Birthday’s Twitter page that related parties within Square Enix are making adjustments to the games in order to make Parasite Eve 1 and Parasite Eve 2 a downloadable reality. We assume that would mean a work-around for the PSP having only one analog stick, …and other things of course.
It might not be the exact confirmation that we’ve been looking for, but its pretty close. Considering that Tabata has mentioned before that they would like to see it a reality and that a PSP exclusive release would need all of thep pre-release build up that it can get, Square Enix really can’t go wrong with a PE1 and PE2 release.
Parasite Eve 1 and 2 are pretty different games in terms of game play, the former leaning more towards being an RPG and the second being a survival-horror-ish game with RPG elements included. Both of them (for the time) had stunning visuals, Parasite Eve 2 could have even been mistaken for an early PS2 game. This should give people looking forward to The Third Birthday a chance to play through games that they never had the chance to before. And really, it’s worth it!
More news on this when it becomes available, here’s hoping for a PSN release some time around Christmas.
