Paranautical Activity returns to Steam

Paranautical Activity

It seems like it was only recently that Code Avarice’s Mike Maulbeck started a controversy when he decided it was a cool idea to threaten Valve’s managing director and part-time internet-deity Gabe “Gaben” Newell.

As a result of a simple tweet that probably took five seconds to type, a game he and his team had been working on for months was instantly removed from Steam and according to his Twitter account, he still receives nasty comments about it every day. I would like to forget about it myself, but surprisingly, Paranautical Activity is back in action. Sadly, this is not because Valve decided to be gracious and forgive Code Avarice for Mike’s statement, but because the rights to the game have been sold to Digerati Distribution. This means the game is no longer their property and I can only assume they won’t benefit from its sales anymore, which is kind of sad.

To celebrate the return, the title of the game has been changed to Paranautical Activity: Deluxe Atonement Edition. Those who bought the game before should still have it in their libraries, while those new to this admittedly-cool roguelike FPS can purchase it for $9.99. The reception has been about what you’d expect, some people are glad it returned while others are acting vile on the forums and try to use their justified bans to make the new developer/publisher look bad.
