Paranautical Activity dev back at work, despite resignation

Paranautical Activity had  been on Steam officially, out of early access for less than a day before it was pulled.  The reason?  It was improperly labelled as still being in early access, despite the fact that it was a fully completed game.  Additionally, Mike Maulbeck, the developer of the game, tweeted a threat towards Valve’s Gabe Newell, and Valve responded in kind.

Ultimately, Paranautical Activity was re-added to the Steam catalogue (Mistake: The game is still no longer available on Steam), but Maulbeck had announced his resignation from the company.  However, things seemed to have turned around, and Maulbeck is now back with Code Avarice.

This is probably not hugely surprising to some of you, but Mike couldn’t commit to his decision to leave Code Avarice.  Travis Pfenning publicly denoucned his departure, and in the weeks following his official stepping down, Mike had second thoughts.  Looking for a new source of income was extremely overwhelming, and when it finally came time to put pen to paper, Mike and Travis agreed that the best thing to do would be to have Mike return to Code Avarice.

I have to agree, when you quit your job suddenly, finding money after that can be quite…difficult.  Let’s hope that Maulbeck has learned his lesson.  The last thing that we need is another developer meltdown.
