When will the sadness end?
You know the story, Konami is Konami, Kojima, sadness. It really doesn’t need repeating. It’s now been years since the whole thing went down in 2014. Stunningly, there’s actually some news this week regarding the ill-fated P.T., as the demo has finally been cracked and data-mined for all it’s worth. This has resulted in a bunch of new information being released as models that we never saw have been discovered. Modders are getting them into Source and Metal Gear Solid 5 to get a better look at them.
We’ll never know what these things intended use was, one of them sort of looking like a Lying Figure from Silent Hill 2, and the other… the big white dude from Prometheus. Who knows if they would have been used in any capacity, they might’ve just been for testing, or early models used before the design was settled. They’re neat to look at, at the very least, even if they induce bouts of rage. The game’s main character models have all been ripped as well, Norman Reedus’ unnamed character, Lisa, even the Fetus. Modders are doing some… interesting things with them, most notably during the beautiful rain dance sequence from Metal Gear Solid 5.

It’s interesting seeing Reedus’ model doing other things, especially since the model is still clearly unfinished (huge gaps between the waist and his back under the jacket). Makes me wonder how far in development Silent Hills ever got, or if this demo was really the summation of all the work they’d accomplished. Kojima and his team at KojiPro were in the final stretch of getting MGS5 out the door at the time. Sigh.
Either way, really interesting to get a look at all this stuff, even after so much time. In the meantime, Hideo Kojima is working on the utterly bizarre-looking Death Stranding, also starring Norman Reedus as well as Mads Mikkelsen. If that game doesn’t at the very least have horror themes, I don’t know what to say based on the two very disturbing and ominous trailers we’ve gotten so far.
On the other side of the fence, this is what Konami’s latest Silent Hill effort has been. Siggggghhhh.
