A PC exclusive closed beta for the long-awaited OVERKILL’S The Walking Dead will hit next month, beginning on October 9th. Want early access to the game? Then you’ll need to pre-order it on Steam or from participating retailers listed on the game’s website.
Those who pre-order the standard version will get one beta code, while those who pre-order the deluxe edition get four codes for themselves and friends. At this time, there are not many details on the beta other than its start date and pre-order access. OVERKILL’s latest developer livestream showcases some co-op gameplay; while the game looks a bit dated graphically, this could be the Left 4 Dead successor we’ve been waiting for. I certainly hope it is.
Inspired by Robert Kirkman’s original graphic novels, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is a four-player co-op multiplayer shooter where players must band together on a variety of missions and raids to find survivors, secure supplies and stay alive. Use stealth to evade enemies tactically, or dismember walkers limb from limb with brute force and firepower. Each of the game’s four playable characters has their own special abilities, skill trees, squad roles, play styles and background stories.
OVERKILL’S The Walking Dead will release on PC on November 6, 2018. The PS4 and Xbox One versions will release a little later on February 6, 2019 in the Americas and two days later everywhere else.
