When The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game first launched in August of last year, horror fans immediately embraced it. Our own Steve Summers and Katy Hanson gave it high praise, awarding it an 8.5 out of 10. It has since had many updates and additional characters added.
Now, Gun Interactive is proud to announce that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has officially reached 1.1 million units sold. Tallying sales from its August 18th, 2023 launch all the way to the latest Xbox Free Play Days for All event, this achievement represents a new milestone for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, as the developers remain hard at work on post-launch support and future updates.

We also learned that Gun Interactive will be passing the development reins over to Black Tower Studios, who promise to continue updating the game through 2024. Black Tower Studios has worked on titles like Predator Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Regarding the transition, Gun Interactive said on the official TCM website:
Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham are proud of the co-development for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sumo Nottingham and their team are working hand-in-hand to pass the torch to Black Tower Studios for the future development of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Both teams at Sumo Nottingham and Gun Interactive are on-boarding Black Tower Studios to the project and we are excited for this partnership to help usher in new content and support.
It was also recently announced that horror movie scream queen Barbara Crampton will be featured as a new survivor character named Virginia in an upcoming DLC for the game. Known for such horror classics as Re-Animator, From Beyond, and You’re Next.
Crampton announced her involvement via her Instagram account saying:
Life is scary, don’t you think? But, you know, I’m used to living in a scary world. Probably my favorite horror movie of all time is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I am here to tell you that I’m in the DLC for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre game! I’m really excited to say that I just feel honored to be a part of this game.
We can’t wait to see how Crampton’s new character plays and interacts with the existing characters in the game. We will let you know as soon as we know more details about the upcoming DLC.
