For this installment, which doesn’t have an exact release date but is due out this year, Red Barrels is going down a more multiplayer route. While the studio has said the new game will have a solo campaign, it seems as though it’s going to be gunning for a slice of that Dead by Daylight / Phasmophobia pie. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but some may be concerned that it could put emphasis on playing with others when Outlast has traditionally been at its most frightening as a solo experience.
Overall, fans will no doubt be looking forward to Trials finally coming out, as well as what Red Barrels has in store for Gamescom next week. There’s a good chance it could be a new trailer, maybe even some play footage. Whatever content is due to be unveiled, let’s hope the developer gives us a full release date.
