Open your ears to Downpour’s opening track

Think Silent Hill is dead because long time series composer Akira Yamaoka is gone? Well, take a listen to the intro track for Silent Hill Downpour by Dan Licht, and make an informed decision.

The track provided by Konami is played during the intro of Silent Hill Downpour. It’s a little long and has no vocals, but the song clearly shows that Dan understands what Silent Hill should sound like.

The song starts with instruments and tones that can easily be associated with the Silent Hill name. The second half of the song also reminds me of some of the faster paced industrial songs by Akira. All in all, the track sounds good so far. I can’t wait to hear the song that includes Mary Elizabeth McGlynn’s vocals.

Akira may be gone, and I will always love his work, but it seems like Dan is going to do the series justice. At least now, fans have something to really sink their ears into.
