Nosgoth is the interesting result of an attempt to mix the singleplayer action-adventure franchise Legacy of Kain with the zany multiplayer fun of Team Fortress 2. While this has left many fans of the former disappointed, it sure looks like a game that has the potential to be incredibly entertaining. A few lucky sods will soon be able to find out for sure, because Square Enix is moving the game into closed beta this month and will be sending out more invitations for new players to join the testing.
Speaking to Polygon, the company stated that: “Unfortunately, we’ve had to limit the number of players during closed alpha to be able to test the game’s network infrastructure, but this will change soon once we get into closed beta and start letting more players in.” Further information in the article indicates that “soon” means within this month, which means the game is coming along nicely. Along with the beta, a number of new features will be implemented into the game based on feedback, though no specific mechanics or changes have been specified.
Nosgoth will be free-to-play when it launches and will be available on Steam, but a release date has yet to be announced.
