NightCry Kickstarter launched for PC version

NightCry, the spiritual successor to Clock Tower may already be announced and planned for release on mobile phones and the PlayStation Vita, but developer Nude Maker has launched a Kickstarter to get the game onto PC, as well. With a $300,000 goal, Nude Maker is hoping not to just make the game available on PC (and potentially other platforms), but make it a bigger and better version.

Upgrades planned for the PC version include improved shaders, improved lighting and effects, full facial animation and lip syncing, and detailed hair animation. Images and videos of a work in progress PC version can be found on the Kickstarter page to give an idea of the graphical differences between the two versions of the game, granted it gets funded. Additional story and gameplay details about NightCry can be found on the Kickstarter page, if you’re hungry for new information.

Unlike most Kickstarter campaigns for games, NightCry will be made regardless of whether or not the campaign is successful. The team decided to utilize Kickstarter after they saw demand from people online upset that the game’s release would be limited to mobile devices. With a team of veterans not only in the Japanese game development scene, but also survival horror, NightCry is definitely a title I’ll be keeping an eye on. I just might have to become a backer.
