Night Dive, the studio behind restoring System Shock 2 and more recently the first System Shock for redistribution, have revealed that they’re planning to do a little more than enhance existing games in the series. In an interview with Fast Company, Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick stated that the studio has “acquired the full rights to the franchise”. The studio are even working with the game’s original concept artist, Robert Waters.
In addition to pursuing a remake of the classic game, Night Dive is even in talks to work on System Shock 3, but admits it would be a large undertaking and are will have to evaluate further. “To really do another game in that series is going to take resources and time and commitment that we don’t have, and it’s really not our core business,” said head of business development at Night Dive, Larry Kuperman.
Now that Night Dive has the full rights to this once-lost series (read how they reclaimed it here), we may very well see its revival past re-releases. Who among you are fans of the original games and are excited?
