While Frictional Games is working tirelessly on their upcoming horror game, SOMA, Imagos Films has presumably working on a tie-in film. A popular rumor going around the fan forums suggests that Imagos, the studio responsible for the initial teaser videos, has been creating a film to compliment the game. While this is still conjecture, Depth’s IMDB page leads some credence to the theory.
Frictional has been teasing an upcoming announcement this week with the release of several videos as part of an ongoing ARG, one video (seen below) is over a minute long and features a woman in tears. What’s she crying about? It’s hard to tell, but the clip feels like it’s a snippet from a larger production.
The second video is of the same character (Reed) walking on a beach, but shorter and made to appear glitchy or dream-like. Frictional’s ARG had led to a countdown page which ends during the week of E3 tomorrow. It’s safe to say that the studio is gearing up to announce something soon. Right now one of those things may very well may be a SOMA short film. Check out this comprehensive rundown from fans on why they believe that to be the case.
