From Software was a little worried that their fans aren’t getting enough Dark Souls III in their life. They kindly released new gameplay footage of Ashes of Ariandel yesterday to keep the flames fed, and it sets the stage for a serious uphill battle. Dark Souls is known for its punishing combat, and the opponents in Ariandel certainly look like they can deliver. The denizens of this frozen world are beautifully drawn, and eager to protect their secrets.
Ashes of Ariandel will have two new boss fights, fifteen new weapons, four new spells, and four new armor sets. It will also introduce new enemy combat, including roving packs of wolves that will require players to take on a whole group of powerful enemies at once. Even the trees will be out to get you in Ariandel, so you can never really let your guard down.
We are just a hair over a month away from the October 24th release date for Ashes of Ariandel, so players aren’t going to be waiting too much longer to take on these enemies themselves. In the meantime, players will need to play at least halfway through Dark Souls III so that they can access the DLC once it is released. As is usual in the Dark Souls series, the DLC is locked until you have played enough of the game to successfully fight your way through the DLC enemies. Polish up those combat skills and make a few co-op friends- you may need them in thirty-three days. Be warned that there are spoilers for the bosses in this video after 3:21.
