There’s not one, but two Danganronpa 3 things coming out! Spike Chunsoft has announced via their anniversary celebration of the series that not only we will be seeing a new game with an all new cast and location, but an anime sequel to potentially tie off the Hope’s Peak story from previous Danganronpa games.
New Danganronpa V3 is the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Vita sequel game to introduce a bunch of new characters and gameplay elements. This time around, Spike Chunsoft has introduced a new theme / mechanic to the series by the way of lying. Players will be able to bluff their way through class trials in order to sway the conversation. The game will also take place in a “cool” new school, and if the look of the protagonist and backgrounds are any indication, it may take place in the future? Why is he a cyborg?! And what’s Monomi doing there?!

As for Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak, we’ll being seeing Danganronpa 1 protagonist Makoto Naegi facing his own trial of sorts. The anime will act as a conclusion to the Hope’s Peak saga, presumably hinging on repercussions from events in Danganronpa 2 and spin-off Ultra Despair Girls.

For now, all of these upupu announcements are coming from Spike Chunsoft and affiliates in Japan, so details need to be translated and skimmed. Presently a release for the anime in the west is unknown, but considering how popular the series is here, we just need to wait for announcement. I imagine we’ll hear more soon.
