Bethesda over the last three days have been releasing a series of teaser videos on media sharing site, Vine. They depict random scenes of a book, burning sunflowers, and a window with strange shadows flickering in and out. We and others theorized that this might be related to Project Zwei, a game that the father of Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami, exactly a year-ago next Wednesday, announced that his newly formed studio, Tango Gameworks, would develop as their first game. He also has expressed that this game will be, ‘a pure survival-horror game,’ but has released no more about the title outside of the concept art above.
However, IGN has beaten us to the punch and just today announced that Project Zwei will be announced tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. Pacific / 8:00 a.m Eastern time with a teaser trailer and the game’s official title. Some further information on the project comes from andriasang, who had an interview with Mikami, who talks about the size of the team on the project and release. The game will release 2013 or later, the company of Tango is currently 65 people (but may bump up to 100) and Mikami expects it will be the biggest team he has ever worked with on a project, Mikami hopes the game will sell 500K-1 million copies in Japan, and part of the reason they went with Bethesda for the project was because Mikami loved Skyrim, which was the first game that stimulated him as a creator and impressed him in some time.
We’ll keep you up to date on Zwei news as it comes, though expect it to go under a different name tomorrow.
