TripWire Interactive has announced some great news regarding their shark simulator RPG, Maneater, which launched earlier this year and is still one of the most brilliant games we’ve played in 2020. A mere four months after launch, the game has hit the 1 million sales mark, making it an overwhelming success for such a unique project and a new IP with a relatively small budget. Given their track record with Killing Floor, we should have assumed they’d know how to build exactly the game fans have been waiting for.
Along with the great news of the title’s success, the developer has also just confirmed that there will be free PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades for anyone who already owns the game on PS4 or Xbox One. These upgrades will be available on the respective launch days of the new consoles. The new upgrades will feature 4K visuals at 60 FPS as well as ray tracing, full HDR support, and several other new features for each console. They’ve also announced they’re currently working on some additional content for the game. Hopefully, we’ll see that come down the pipeline sooner rather than later and be able to enjoy it on our new platforms.
