Publisher and developer Tripwire Interactive, in partnership with Deep Silver, Inc. is set to release Maneater, an action-RPG where you play as a shark (aka ShARkPG), to all major console systems. In this single-player action-RPG, players are invited to experience their ultimate power fantasy as the apex predator of the seas, consuming everything in sight to become the ultimate killing machine.
Tripwire Interactive, the same developers behind Killing Floor 2, recently released a trailer during The Game Awards 2019 showing off some brutal new gameplay, including sharks jumping onto land to hunt down their prey, invading a SeaWorld-esque theme park (ala Jaws 3D) and navigating through a variety of underwater environments. As the title suggests, there’s a lot of people munching going on and the game certainly doesn’t skimp on the gore. Hapless divers, boaters and even landlubbing golfers aren’t safe, as you tear them to shreds and gobble down their juicy giblets. The game looks to combine the fast combat and flexibility of the Twisted Metal franchise, with the open-world exploration and the exaggerated spectacle of Grand Theft Auto, only as a shark, instead of a car.
Expect more official news and details for Maneater after the holidays as development continues. In the meantime, Tripwire Interactive encourages fans to follow the developers on social media for the latest news and updates. Be sure to visit the official website and follow the Maneater team on Twitter and Facebook.
Maneater is scheduled to launch on May 22, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via the Epic Games Store), with plans to launch on the Nintendo Switch later in 2020. Pre-order bonus includes the Tiger shark adaptation, an exclusive evolution that allows players to play as the “garbage can of the sea” and digest just about anything!
