Manage Your Own Cult in The Shrouded Isle

There’s a sim game for everything, from cities to hospitals to…cults? The Shrouded Isle puts you in the role of mayor of a seaside village that pays dues to the old ones—hungry Lovecraftian gods sleeping beneath the sea—with human sacrifices. You must try to earn the favor of five Houses competing for power in the village, while keeping the gods sated by choosing sacrifices from among them.

Young studio Kitfox began The Shrouded Isle as a jam game for Ludum Dare 33: You Are The Monster. Games that come out of Ludum Dare tend to offer solid, unique experiences—just look at Stories Untold and Lucas Pope’s games. With its interesting premise and stylized monochromatic design, this is another jam game I’m eager to pick up. The Shrouded Isle releases on August 4 on Steam. Check out the official site for more info, and we have the trailer and official description below!

In this cult manager, there are sinners aplenty, and not all are eager to confess. Each member of your community has 2 hidden traits – one virtuous, one heretical. If you’ve earned the favor of their House, you may investigate their reputation. Otherwise, you may appoint them to your seasonal council and watch their work for clues.
