LIMBO developer’s next game will take at least three years to develop

Okay, let’s get the good news out of the way first. LIMBO developer Playdead currently has an unannounced project in the works. That’s not exactly the good news in its entirety, though the mere fact that another title is heading our way from the creators of one of last year’s most critically acclaimed titles is quite an enticing one. What’s notable here is that, as opposed to developing an engine from scratch for LIMBO, Playdead will be utilizing the Unity Engine for its upcoming project.

“Upcoming” in this case means at least three years. Yes, the bad news is that we’re going to have to wait quite a while before the game graces its intended platform(s). At least the developer will be left to fully focus on creating yet another brilliant game instead of also having to devote work towards crafting a new engine from the ground up. The work is half done for them when compared to their time developing LIMBO, so we can definitely expect this project to be just as good, if not better.

We’ll just have to wait at least three years, though. Take your time, Playdead. Take your sweet time.
