A few weeks ago, information was found that suggested a new Legacy of Kain game might be in the works, because Square Enix had registered the War For Nosgoth domain name–Nosgoth being the place where the Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver series take place. Most recently some folks around the web have found that the latest driver in AMD’s Crossfire update contained mentions of this mysterious “War for Nosgoth” (as well as just “Nosgoth“) hidden within the patch’s log files. A post on the Eidos Games forums by user Corlagon reveals where proper notes can be located within the patch.
If file names weren’t enough, a logo for this unannounced title has appeared on SteamDB, a database for Steam’s vast library of games and software. The tiny logo is simply the word “Nosgoth” with the Pillars of Nosgoth configuration within.
What we have here looks like enough evidence to believe that a new Legacy of Kain title is on the way. I can only hope. I may not have played them all, but Blood Omen 2 and Defiance were two great games. I still have to play through Soul Reaver and then get its sequel. If a new game is announced, maybe I’ll have to hurry that up. Let it be so, Square Enix!
