Left 4 Dead 3 spotted on tour of Valve offices

I know, I know.  You’re probably sitting there thinking “Oh great, another Left 4 Dead 3 rumour.  Give it up, it ain’t gonna happen.  Everybody knows that Valve can’t count to three.” Hear me out on this one, as it seems that all of those other hints at a Left 4 Dead 3 may have been pointing to something after all.

During a tour of Valve HQ, an enterprising (and sneaky) tourist snapped a picture of a developer’s computer monitor that was left open on a list of Valve projects.  On the list was a reference to Left 4 Dead 3 and the Source 2 engine.

The image is pretty difficult to read here, so take a look at the original image here .  If you can’t be bothered, the part that pertains to L4D3 simply says the following: [Source2] Restored L4D3’s devtest unit test. Ran locally 6 times without an asset. There may be so” – the note continues, however is cut off.

So you might now be proclaiming and ready to write in the comments section that it still smells of a fake.  Well, firstly: way to ruin a parade, Drunk Santa.  Second, this photograph could confirm more than one of the projects that were leaked via the Jira snapshot from a while back.  Not to mention the fact that this gives a little more credibility to that countdown timer – which, by the way, is still rolling.  Individually it’s hard to give these items much credit, especially in an industry where people make shit up for fun just to see how much they can stir the pot. However when you add them all together, they have much more weight.  Besides, that’s an awful lot of work to go to just to troll the people who are still holding out hope for a new Left 4 Dead game.

Now you might be one of those select few people gritting your teeth and demanding when Valve is finally going to release Half Life 3.  Well, if Source 2 is really on its way, then it would be reasonable to expect more coming out of Valve in the next little while, including more Half Life.
