Latest Yaiba Dev Diary (and Screens) Show ‘The Style of Slaughter’

The latest Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Developer Diary has been released by Tecmo Koei. In the video, the teams behind Yaiba, at Comcept, Tecmo Koei, and California-based studio Spark Unlimited, talk about the visual style of the game and how central that is to the game’s tone and action.

Keiji Inafune and Shinsuke Komaki of Comcept talk about the game’s tonal similarity to American film and comics. Richard Smith, art director of Yaiba talks of Spark’s emphasis on creating an authentic comic book aesthetic to the game.

All in all, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z looks like it will be a bloody and over-the-top action game. I certainly hope that it’s a good one, though. With three dev teams behind it and Keiji Inafune leading one of them, there’s a chance that this collaboration will be a success. I don’t wish for any game to be bad, especially if I might review it, so here’s hoping Yaiba is a silly, silly treat!

Expect the game to launch on March 18 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
