Konami is Reportedly Working on Another Silent Hill Game Internally

KonamiDeveloper/publisher Konami has a lot of plans for Silent Hill in the upcoming future. Along with the already-released Silent Hill: The Short Message, the odd experiment that was Silent Hill: Ascension, and the highly anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2, they also have Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall waiting in the wings, not to mention a new movie entitled Return to Silent Hill.

Once again, the well-informed industry insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, has provided us with insight into Konami’s plans for the Silent Hill series. They announced on Twitter that Konami had released its Q1 results, which were the strongest in the company’s history. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to the future of Silent Hill.

Dusk Golem also revealed that “There is also an internally developed SH game in the works and a couple other unannounced things.” This comes as exciting news since we considered The Short Message a very well-made game. Our review said that it “feels like a bold, fresh start for a series that has grown stagnant and burdened by the weight of its own legacy.”

It’s possible that the team responsible for The Short Message could also be developing the new Silent Hill title. Konami originally approached the Japanese game developer, known as HexaDrive, to discuss the possibility of porting the Silent Hill series. They later decided to prioritize a remake of Silent Hill 2 instead.

HexaDrive’s prototype of SH2 did not move forward, so Konami chose Bloober Team to develop it instead. Later, Konami contacted HexaDrive to develop The Short Message.

We will update this developing story as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, keep it tuned here for all your horror gaming news.
