Kojima Productions and A24 just announced they are working on a feature film based on Death Stranding.
It’s been a pretty busy week for Hideo Kojima. After the announcement of a new Kojima game in conjunction with Jordan Peele (Nope, Us, Get Out), called OD, at this year’s The Game Awards, showing a trailer full of potential Silent Hill references, the news just keep piling on.
Both Kojima Productions and independent entertainment company A24 (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Talk to Me, Uncut Gems, Midsommar) announced today that they are joining forces to bring the highly-acclaimed Death Stranding to the big screen.

On the matter at hand, Kojima stated the following:
A24 was born into this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no other. The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative. I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. Their innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years. Now, we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are a lot of ‘game adaptation films’ out there but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. The intention is that our audience will not only be fans of the games, but our film will be for anyone who loves cinema. We are creating a Death Stranding universe that has never been seen before, achievable only through the medium of film, it will be born.
A24 seems like a no-brainer of a choice considering their track record of unconventional movies and TV productions and we are certainly very curious to see more of this.
In the meantime, you can already get the new Death Stranding-inspired A24 T-Shirt in A24’s store.
More news is bound to pop up around this topic sooner or later and we will certainly keep you posted on what we can learn.
